About Odell's

History

Odell's began in 1962 when the original owner, Virgil Odell, discovered a process used by the military to remove water and milk solids from butter. During this time theatres were using creamery butter that would separate when melted and required refrigeration. This process led to the introduction of Anhydrous Butterfat, a REAL Butter that required no refrigeration and did not separate. It was an immediate success with the theatres.

Since 1978 Odell's has marketed and sold our Anhydrous Butterfat/REAL Butter to food service customers around the country but under a more familiar name with chefs, Clarified Butter. It is very popular with seafood restaurants and with chef's who appreciate the fact that they can purchase clarified butter that is consistent in quality and is shelf stable. Many of the leading restaurants in Las Vegas and around the country use Odell's Clarified Butter for cooking, baking and as a drawn butter for seafood. It is also used as an ingredient in many candy and bakery items.

Odell's has sold various size tubs of Clarified Butter in retail stores for over 25 years. Our current 10 oz retail tub of Clarified Butter is been sold under our Chef's Butter label in many gourmet food and gourmet supply outlets across the country. In 2005, Odell's added two new Chef's Butters to our product line: Seafood and Ghee for retail sales and distribution. We also market our Anhydrous Butterfat / REAL Butter under the "Original Popcorn Butter" label through our retail partners and on our www.popntop.com website.

There are no preservatives or artificial ingredients in any of our butter products. All of our products are produced in conformance to H.A.A.C.P. standards.

The difference between Odell's Clarified Butter and Clarified Butter distributed by other companies is the moisture content. Odell's removes 99.95% of the moisture and dairy solids during our clarification process. This allows us to ship and store our Clarified Butter without refrigeration. Other manufactures Clarified Butter has a higher moisture content which requires them to always keep their product refrigerated to prevent spoilage.
